This box is a unique reminder ot the most tempestous moments in late 20th century American politics and a point of irony in the 42nd President's career. In 1992, then governor Bill Clinton, hot on the cmpaign trail, made an unscheduled landing at the Mid-Continent airport in WIchita, Kansas for a refueling. Local freight pilot Rod Jacobs, happened to be among the crowd that gathered to meet the underdog in the race for the White House. But when it came to a face-to-face moment with the candidate, Mr. Jacobs was short on scratch paper for an autograph. He grabbed a pack of Swisher Sweets Slims from his pocket instead. The candidate obligiingly scrawled his name and went on. The signifance of that autograph on that particular brand of cigars would not be fully realized for six years. Today, in the wake of an intensely-publicized and damaging affair, followed by an historic impeachment trial, this item has ievolved into a scandalous souviner. The box has been a topic of discussion on such media outlets as MDSNBC, The Wall Stree Journal, and the Kansas City Star. As far as I know, this is the only known Bill Clinton signed box of Swisher Sweets cigars. A unique and highly interesting piece of American History. PRICE $1,000. THIS ITEM WAS SOLD AT AUCTION, BUT I CAN'T HELP TO LEAVE IT UP AS INTERESTING EPHERMA. |
